The holidays are around the corner, which means invitations to parties may be showing up in your mailbox before you know it. What are you going to wear? How are you going to do your hair? Check out our tips to help you step out in style.
HOLIDAY TRENDS: CLOTHING
Burgundy is the “in” color this season. Depending on the event’s “fancy factor”, you could opt for a burgundy cold shoulder top(1) and black pants or a cute skirt or a burgundy slip dress(2) (all the rage now).
You can’t go wrong with the classic LBD (little black dress). Dress it up with a pair of pearls or down with cute bomber jacket for those more casual events.
I am also loving velvet. I feel that it screams opulence, and is super nice to touch! I can totally see wearing a burgundy velvet skirt or pants(1) with a black flowy top or burgundy off-the-shoulder top with black velvet pants(3). I think I need a pair stat!
HOLIDAY TRENDS: SHOES
Strappy is the way to go, but if you’re not one for height look for a cute pointed flat. Ankle boots are also a great option and come in so many different styles, heel heights and colors.
HOLIDAY TRENDS: ACCESSORIES
Gold is huge these days – muted or super shiny, on your wrists or in your hair. Depending on the neckline, you can go with long and layered necklaces or a choker – all the rage this season.
When I’m going out I like to carry as little of a purse as I can (if not any at all – but that requires me talking the hubby into holding my phone and lipgloss…). Some of my favorite clutches include the (1) envelope clutch, the (2) simple and small clutch or the (3) wallets that double as clutches.
HOLIDAY TRENDS: HAIR STYLES
Long hair calls for sleek and straight or Pinterest-worthy intricate braids. If your hair is on the shorter side, go for a gold or sequins barrette or headband to dress up your tresses.
HOLIDAY TRENDS: MAKEUP
The smoky eye is back this season, but with variations based on your eye color and outfit. If your outfit is what you’d like to stand out the most, opt for a muted makeup palate so as not to take away from the main attraction. Long and luscious eyelashes take center stage – faux or with some help from your favorite mascara.
These tips are just a few of the trends for Holiday 2016, but the main thing you should focus on is to wear what makes you feel like a million dollars.
