Spring Wardrobe Edit: Wantable Style!

Spring Wardrobe Edit Wantable Style

It’s still winter but I feel the need to begin building my spring wardrobe.  I’ve been diligently going through my closet, shuffling though each and every piece hanging and folded, trying to honestly determine what is really “needed” and what is “fluff”.  The hardest part is determining the definition of “needed”, and I fee that may constitute a whole other blog post.

One great thing about clothing subscription boxes is that they arrive at my doorstep ready for me to open and explore.  I try on the enclosed pieces, mixing and matching them with current clothing in my closet.  When reviewing each piece, I have to ask myself:

  • Is it a keeper?
  • Do I love it because it is new or because it will compliment what I have?
  • Is it similar to something you currently have?  (This is my downfall because I LOVE black and white basics, so I don’t think I could ever have enough black or white t-shirts, tank tops, tunics, sweaters…isn’t it funny that I know this yet I keep collecting?!
  • Is the style of the piece of clothing a current trend or classic?  I’m more likely to keep something if it is classic.  If it is trendy, but well-priced, I may keep it as well.

BB Dakota Arianna Jacket in Toffee: This drape jacket was the first thing that caught my eye when I opened my edit.  I love the color – muted, but could totally match just about anything.  I envision it with a simple white tank top or t-shirt and a pair of jeans – blue denim or black – making it add a little edge to an everyday outfit.  This jacket is perfect when going somewhere that is a bit chilly – where I live that would be a restaurant, mall or movies OR one of the few coveted nights that it’s brisk outside.

Jack Morris Shirt in Toffee: The first thing that caught my eye was the mixed media – I love when shirts have two different fabrics, designs, etc.  The second thing I liked was the split back.  The third – the longer-than-my-arm sleeves.  They weren’t too long – just the perfect length.  A great, lightweight shirt!

KLD Signature French Terry Dolman in Wine: I received this shirt in another box – in black – and LOVE it.  I love it partly because it is black (my favorite color) BUT also because it fits so nicely.  It it roomy, but not too roomy, and tapers towards the legs, but not tight.  Also, the color’s name is “wine” – my fave beverage!

Kut From the Kloth Tabitha Plaid Shirt: I’ve grown to love plaid over the past two seasons, but was a bit hesitant to keep yet another plaid shirt BUT there was something different about this one.  I like the blue/pink combo and that it was a bit lighter in weight that the other two I have.  I think this shirt would look super cute with white pants – a perfect spring outfit!

DEX Zip Detail Legging: I have my share of black leggings but these are different.  They are a bit “dressier” but not like the “going out to dinner” dressier.  I really like the zipper and panel detailing.  The photo I took doesn’t show the detail (hence no photo).

Interested in trying Wantable out?  When can you say that you have a personal stylist that knows your taste, what you need, and your price points AND delivers it to your doorstep?  There is a $20 styling fee, but you can subtract it from what you keep!

Which pieces would you recommend I keep?

  1. I love your clothing subscription box reviews! You have a similar (simple yet classic) style as me 🙂

Personally, my favorites are that plaid shirt (anything button down with a slight sort of V-neck is so flattering I think), the jacket and the Jack Morris shirt. Although I think all of the options look nice!

    • Chelsie, they aren’t too bad actually. The shirts can range from $30ish to $70 at times. The pants are priced well I believe, but you have to tell them your budget and the stylist will work to stay within it. The quality of the clothing does dictate the pricing on most of these pieces.

    • Thanks Taylor! The subscription boxes are fun. It may take a few boxes before the stylist totally gets your style nailed down – sometimes it is an immediate LOVE…the more details you give in the questionnaire when you sign up, the better the boxes will be for sure!

  2. I created a capsule wardrobe for winter and I was so excited to create it but I’ve grown so tired of it. I’m not so excited for spring. In fact, I’m sort of dreading it. ugh. I’ve never done Wantable but I have done a couple Stitch Fix boxes. Do you know how comparable they are in price?

    • Charlene, I’ve always wanted to create a capsule wardrobe but I don’t think I could NOT shop for new clothing (LOL). Wantable sends pieces that are in line with Stitch Fix’s price points, as well as more expensive. I recommend trying them out but making sure you highlight your budget!

    • Alison, I was on the same page as you regarding relinquishing control of shopping 🙂 so I subscribe to these boxes AND enjoy shopping at the malls/stores too!

  3. I love that lace top! I am really bad about purging through the seasons and a whole year comes around and some of my clothes are in bad shape. I need to get on that.

    • Mayra, I purge because I love to shop and will get sideways looks from the hubby if my closet is exploding with too much clothing!

    • Thanks Catherine, I love that color too – I think it goes well with all skin tones AND it is loose fitting which I love!

  4. I tried the boxes but I am a tall ape armed short waisted freak of nature. A little hard to fit to say the least. Fabletics works for me but that is about it. You look adorbs though! I love your reviews too.

    • Thank you for your kind words!! But Heather, I am sure you are not as hard to fit as you say above! I love Fabletics BTW – have you tried Wantable’s Fitness edit? You get 5-6 pieces to try out.

  5. I am afraid to try subscription boxes..I am so so picky..ha…
Anyway I love that white tunic…with the lace, super cute and a love how you styled it!
